Bauchi gov admits disconnect, mistrust between govt, citizens

Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has admitted that there is a serious disconnect and mistrust between citizens and the government at all levels in the country.

The Governor made this declaration late Monday evening while fielding questions from journalists shortly after an expanded emergency Security Council meeting held at the Council Chambers, Governor’s Office, Bauchi.

Bala Mohammed noted that there has been growing hunger and hardship in the land over the past few months and advised the Federal Government to amend its policies as a step toward addressing the ongoing nationwide protest.

He further said, “Nigerian youths have every reason to protest against bad governance, considering the magnitude of hardship in the land.”

However, he stated that while protesting, the youths should exercise decorum in their actions.

The Governor also condemned the actions of some youths in the Katagum Local Government Area of the state, who unleashed mayhem against constituted authority and innocent citizens.

According to him, “The government would not fold its arms and watch some unpatriotic citizens disrupt the peace being enjoyed in the state.”

The meeting was attended by heads of all the security agencies operating in the state, traditional and religious leaders, youth-based organizations, NURTW, among others.
