For the improvement of primary education, Bauchi State Government set to access about N2 billion as education intervention grant from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
The announcement of the intervention was made by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr Hamid Boboye on Wednesday during an advocacy visit to Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed at the Council Chambers of the Government House, Bauchi.
Dr Hamid Boboye applauded the Governor for working in synergy with the Commission and reaffirmed the determination to of the Commission to work with all stakeholders for educational development of the country.
The Executive Secretary who disclosed that already arrangements have reached an advanced stage for the commissioning of North-East I.C.T Model School in Bauchi, explained that the School comprised of Special Education, Nursery, Primary and Junior Schools.
According to him, the School will also train teachers as it will be connected with technology to enable the students to acquire sound and qualitative education.
He insisted that for the challenges facing the education sector to be addressed and ensure effective teaching and learning, there is a need for the recruitment of qualified teachers.
On the condition of Schools in the country, Dr Hamid Boboye called on the state governments to provide the needed Infrastructure required for ensuring effective service delivery.
Also speaking, the Minister of State for Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nnajiuba assured of the readiness of the Federal Ministry of Education to work with critical stakeholders in order to tackle the menace of out of school children and block the leakages in teacher development among others.
The Minister while acknowledging the efforts of Governor Bala Mohammed towards restoring the lost glory of education, enjoined him to use his leadership experience to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people of the state.
While responding, Governor Bala Mohammed who expressed dissatisfaction with the condition of Schools in the state, attributed it to one of the factors responsible for the state to be with the highest number of out of school children.
The Governor expressed confidence that the I.C.T Model School would assist in the provision of qualitative and sound education and assured the delegation of the support of his administration for the success of their assignment in the state.
