Bauchi education ministry conducts entrance exams for 56,000 students

The Bauchi State Ministry of Education has successfully conducted the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) for over 56,000 candidates.

Speaking to journalists on Friday at the conclusion of an inspection visit to some of the examination centers, the Deputy Director 1 of Examinations in the Ministry, Labaran Ibrahim Labaran, stated that the 2024 edition was a major success and hitch-free compared to previous years.

He emphasized, “I am impressed and satisfied with what I have seen in terms of the conduct of the examination. There were few problems, and everything went well, as you observed.”

He explained, “This examination consists of two parts: the Basic Islamic and the Basic Education Certificate Examinations. We inspected the Basic Education exams, which had very few students for the Basic Islamic exams, with only 2,000 candidates.”

He added that there were 54,000 candidates for the BECE, bringing the total number of candidates to 56,000 across the state for 2024.

He attributed the success to the enhanced education policy of the current administration under Governor Sen. Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, who has prioritized the education sector.

The Deputy Director noted, “We have toured the centers with you, and you have seen how smoothly the exercise went. The candidates had a conducive environment to take their exams as scheduled.”

He mentioned that the education policy in the state remains unchanged, but those managing education affairs are committed to its success.

He also added, “The Ministry now has its own printing press, which facilitated the printing of all question papers with ease, unlike previous years when we had to search around town for printing services.”

He highlighted that in the past, printing examination papers was costly, but with the new printing press, this problem has been resolved.
