Bauchi Christian youths preach peace, peaceful coexistence at Easter

Published by

The United Christians Youth Progressive Forum (UCYPF), a coalition of Christian youths in Bauchi State, has reiterated its commitment to peacebuilding and peaceful coexistence in the spirit of Easter.

The Forum, led by its President, Bro. Joniga Edward, emphasized that nothing is more important than living together as one people, regardless of denominational differences within Christendom.

The Forum also paid a solidarity visit to the Chairman of the Bauchi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Dr. Abraham Damina Dimeus, to felicitate with him and the Christian community on the Easter celebration.

Describing Easter as the foundation of the Christian faith, the Forum highlighted the significance of the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, as demonstrated through the crucifixion on Good Friday, the resurrection on Easter Sunday, and His appearance in Galilee on Monday.

The group added that the visit was also to console the CAN Chairman over the recent defamation of his character on social media, allegedly perpetrated by one Dan Bello and his followers.

While strongly condemning the publication, the Forum expressed confidence in the CAN Chairman’s leadership, stressing that no amount of intimidation would hinder the spread of Christianity in Bauchi State.

The Forum further reiterated its support for the CAN Chairman, describing the claims made in the publication as baseless and untrue.

It then called on Christian youths to use the Easter celebration for sober reflection, to shun social vices that may bring disrepute to the Christian faith, and to demonstrate the love and compassion that Easter represents.
