Bauchi Assembly approves 20 political aides for Gov Bala Mohammed

Bauchi State House of Assembly has approved the request of the Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir to appoint 20 political aides who will assist him in the running of the state before the appointment of commissioners.

The approval by the House during its plenary on Tuesday followed the correspondence to that effect from the governor to the House through the speaker.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Abubakar Suleiman, had told the members that the House received a message from the Executive Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad in which he requested the House to grant him approval to appoint 20 special advisers.

While conveying the message of the governor to the House, the speaker said that in the letter, the governor said that the special advisers will assist him in the smooth running of the government.

The speaker added that the request included only numbers without names, thus the House will consider the numbers for approval to the governor.

Hon. Babayo Muhammad representing Hardawa constituency requested that the House should approve the request of the Governor to appoint 20 Special Advisers and was seconded by Hon. Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala representing Chinade/Madara Constituency.

The speaker put the motion to voice vote and the Members unanimously approved the request of the governor.

The speaker also announced that the House received a letter from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in which it forwarded its nominees for principal officers of the House.

According to the party, after consultations with the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad and other stakeholders, it has approved the members as principal officers.

Those appointed are: Hon. Saleh Hodi Jibir representing Disina Constituency as Majority Leader while Hon. Babayo Muhammad representing Hardawa Constituency is the Deputy Majority Leader just as Hon. Musa Wakili Nakwada representing Bogoro Constituency is the Chief Whip and Hon. Bello Sarkin Jadori representing Gamawa Constituency as Deputy Whip.

The speaker also announced that the House received a similar message from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in which it forwarded the names of members to fill the minority leadership of the House.

They are Hon. Bala Abdu Rishi representing Lame Constituency as Minority Leader while Hon. Zakariyya Saleh representing Azare/Madangala Constituency is to serve as the Minority Whip

The speaker then put the two communications from PDP and APC to the House for approval and the House unanimously approved the new principal officers.

The speaker congratulated the new Principal Officers of the House and wished them well in their new assignment.
