Bauchi APC primaries: I was robbed, Dabo alleges, gov calls for calm

Published by
ONE of Bauchi South senatorial aspirants under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Danjuma Dabo has alleged that he was short-changed in the just concluded primaries conducted by the party in the state.
Speaking through his Campaign Director-General, Alhaji Jibrin Aliyu Tafida who addressed newsmen Tuesday in Bauchi, the senatorial aspirant claimed that he was leading with about 30,000 votes in the seven local governments where the primary election took place but another aspirant was declared the winner when results were announced.
According to him, since the election was conducted on Wednesday last week, the results were withheld until Tuesday this week when audio clips of the election results were allegedly released on the social media by the electoral committee.
Danjuma Dabo also alleged that the number of votes scored by all the aspirants who participated in the exercise was not stated in the audio calling on the national leadership of the party to wade into the issue as a  matter of urgency.
The electoral committee headed by Professor Ahmed Bakori Mohammed had earlier on Monday declared Lawal Yahaya Gumau as the candidate for Bauchi South senatorial district, Halliru Dauda Jika for Bauchi Central and Adamu Mohammed Bulkachuwa for Bauchi North for the 2019 general elections.
It would be recalled that Dr Danjuma Dabo was defeated by Lawal Yahaya Gumau in the recent senatorial by-election to fill the vacant seat of Bauchi South senatorial district created by the death of former late senator Ali Wakili who died in March this year.
Meanwhile, Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has commended the perseverance and sportsmanship of all the aspirants gunning for legislative offices at the state and federal levels on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) and sued for calm.
In a press release by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Ali Mohammed Ali,  the Governor urged them to exercise patience as he plans to meet with all of them as soon as soon as he returns from Abuja.
“I am meeting with all the aspirants as soon as I am through with state duties here in Abuja. I seize this opportunity to commend the aspirants for their perseverance and calm since the exercise started,”  the release further contained.
The Governor once again commended members of the APC for the massive support given to him during the conduct of the direct gubernatorial primary election held in the state and nationwide recently and particularly commended the peaceful manner they went about the exercise and urged them to remain steadfast.
