Bauchi: APC group bemoans alleged neglect by party leadership

A group known as Bauchi State New Dawn Organisation and other Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs) within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed dismay over what it described as the neglect and maltreatment suffered by not only the members of APC but the entire populace of Bauchi in the hands of the party leadership.

The group added that it suffered same fate in the hands of the Federal Government and of course the judiciary via a serious miscarriage of justice mated on the people of Bauchi State and other part of the country particularly members of the party which would remain indelible in the minds of many Nigerians in the history of the judiciary and the young democracy in the country.

The group made the assertion during a press conference held late Tuesday at the NUJ Press Center, Bauchi.

It then called on President Bola Tinubu to as a matter of urgency find a soft landing for all the defeated Gubernatorial candidates of the APC in the last general elections across the country that felt cheated by the outcome of the election.

The call became necessary so that they will be kept within the fold of the party  as well as hold and carry along with them, their supporters and party members which will be of great advantage to the future political endeavours of the party.

The group stated that it called the conference with regards to the internal democracy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as well as the outcome of the 2023 gubernatorial election judgements delivered by the Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday, 12th January, 2024.

Presenter of the text of the conference, Comrade Abdullahi Mohammed Tanko Ningi aka Orlando stated that members of the organization are also stakeholders of the APC in Bauchi State, appreciating Mr. President for the journey so far in Governance of  the country.

The group stated that,”It is no doubt that, this scenario geared seriously towards distraction of our long existing judicial system, and the young democratic government.”

It added that, “This is because, if one looks critically towards what transpired in many states governorship elections and the judicial processes, there is nothing to write home about with particular reference to Bauchi and Plateau states cases in which the later is already a case of reference before the Supreme Court where all the seats of APC were giving to PDP by the court below and Apex court respectively in 2019 general elections of Zamfara.”

“While the case of the former cannot be claimed to have been decided either by the tribunal, the court of appeal and the supreme court as well, hence none of the three courts look at the substance of the matter talk less of deciding on it,” the group added.

It drew the attention of Mr President to kindly find a lasting solution to the pandemic problem that is out to destroy the legal system as well as the democratic norms and values in order to save the country, the party, and the President’s political success come 2027.

The group further drew the attention of Mr President and the national leadership of APC on behalf of all members and people of Bauchi state on the issue of 2023 gubernatorial election.

“There is no doubt that the said election was clearly won by our beloved party the APC as well as its Gubernatorial Candidate, Air Marshal Sadeeq Baba Abubakar, but the election was rigged by the PDP and its candidate, the serving Governor of Bauchi state who used incumbency power  in doing so.”

“This was further achieved in connivance with some disgruntled APC stakeholders in the state for whatever reason(s) or interest best known to them, above that of the party. Mr President sir, we believe the interest of the party supersedes any other interest, more particularly when that interest is an objective one,” It stressed.

“Finally, the organization hereby seek for the kind intervention of Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National leadership of APC and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Federal Republic of Nigeria to see that, there is internal democracy in the party, thereby allowing for free and fair elections in making the leadership of the party from the wards to the National level so that the members of the party can freely choose/elect the people they want to lead them in the party. We hope Mr President will consider, accept and act on this passionate appeal. A stitch in time saves nine,” it concluded.
