AN Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Wednesday sentenced a 25-year-old bar attendant, Semiu Alabi, to six months in prison for stealing his employer’s N165,000.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. F. Ojelade sentenced the accused to six months imprisonment without an option of fine.
Ojelade said that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others.
The convict, of no fixed address, had earlier pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Gbesi Chudu had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 2, at about 8.30 p.m. at Rock Hotel and Bar, Atan, Ogun.
Chudu said the accused, who was the bartender at the hotel, refused to remit N165,000 proceed of sales of drinks to his employer, one Mr Adebayo Abidoye.
He said that the offence contravened Section 421 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Law of Ogun, 2006.
