Baptist Convention commends medical outreach in Bayelsa community

Leadership of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) has commended Dr Nannette Ariaye Igwe-Icho and the Faith Pavilion, Texas, USA for organising and sponsoring a three-day medical mission outreach, which has brought relief and joy to the people of the Biseni clan in Bayelsa.

The NBC expressed delight that the outreach, which took place from December 22nd to 24th, 2024, provided free medical services to over 6,345 persons, with a team of 62 volunteer medical professionals.

The medical team, comprising Physicians, Doctors, Optometrists, Ophthalmologist, Pediatricians, Nurses, Medical Laboratory Scientists, Pharmacists, Clerical Staff, and Counsellors, was drawn from various Hospitals, including the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Diete Koki Hospital, Opolo, and the Uniport Teaching Hospital, Portharcourt.

According to a state from the Protocol and Publicity Office of the NBC, during the outreach, the medical team attended to various medical issues, including eye problems, hypertension, diabetes, and malaria just as the team also distributed over 2000 eyeglasses to those in need.

The people of the Biseni clan were overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, praising the sponsors for their generosity and kindness.

“We are so grateful for this medical mission outreach,” said one of the beneficiaries. “We have never seen anything like this before. The fact that we didn’t have to pay a single kobo for medications and glasses is a blessing from God.”

The sponsors, Dr. Nannette Ariaye Igwe-Icho and the Faith Pavilion, Texas, USA, were praised for their selfless contribution to the health and well-being of the people of the Biseni clan.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of the Biseni clan,” said Dr. Igwe-Icho. “We believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, and we are committed to making that a reality.”

The medical mission outreach was a huge success, with the entire Biseni clan coming together to appreciate the sponsors and the medical team.

The NBC stressed that the outreach has left a lasting impact on the community, and the people are already looking forward to the next medical mission outreach describing it as “Medical Mission Outreach: A Beacon of Hope for Biseni Clan.”
