Bankole’s loyalists dump PDP for ADP

Indications emerged on Wednesday that loyalists of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, might have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the newly registered Action Democratic Party (ADP).

This came to fore with the inauguration of a 72-member protem state executive committee, at an expanded stakeholders meeting of the party, held at its secretariat, in Abeokuta, on Tuesday.

The development had further depleted the PDP which over years had been embroiled in factional crisis in the state to the national level.

In a statement issued by the party’s state publicity secretary, Sunday Adeleye, unveiled a former Commissioner for Housing, Chief Wale Egunleti as chairman and a former Director of Owena Rover Basin Development Authority, Mr. Femi Sowunmi, as the state secretary.

The duo of Egunleti who was a former political adviser to ex-Governor Gbenga Daniel and Sowunmi, an American trained financial expert, are close associates of Bankole.

Adeleye urged the people of Ogun State to embrace the new mega political party ahead of the 2019 elections, saying the party is poised to deliver good governance, promote transparency and abolish all sort of impunity in governance.

“The state Protem Committee as unveiled will midwife the activities of the party in Ogun State pending an approved congress and had been charged with the responsibility of harmonising its members with interested groups, associations and reputable party leaders into protem executives at the polling booths, wards and local governments across the state.

“The Action Democratic Party (ADP), a mega political party having its ideology based on party supremacy, democratic empowerment of the young people and an all- inclusive people driven government is out to re-engineer the various sector of government and provide viable solution to the anomalies created by the successive administration in Nigeria,” Adeleye said.
