Gunmen suspected to be bandits have again struck in Tegina Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state and abducted four persons.
The attack which took place on Tuesday was coming barely four months after the Tegina Islamiyya school pupils and some of their staff members were released by their abductors.
Headmaster of Tegina Islamiyya school Malam Abubakar Alhassan barely escaped abduction after leaving the mosque for an urgent matter before the gunmen struck.
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune in an interview by telephone on Tuesday from his base at Tegina in Rafi Local Government Area of the state, Malam Abubakar Alhassan said that his narrow escape from being abducted by the armed men was an act of God.
He further explained that among those abducted by the armed gunmen were three businessmen and one civil servant.
He said the bandits came on motorcycles and started shooting sporadically in the air to scare the people in the neighbourhood communities away after which the hoodlums abducted their victims.
As of the time of filing in this report, the armed bandits were yet to communicate with family members of the abductees for ransom.
However, in a brief interview, the Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Amed Ibrahim Matane, on Tuesday in Minna, confirmed the development and said security has been beefed up within and outside Tegina in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State where the incident had occurred.
