Babachir, others docked, remanded in EFCC custody

JUSTICE Jude Okeke of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), today ordered that the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Engineer Babachir David Lawal and three others be remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) till tomorrow when the court will rule on their bail applications.
The judge gave the order following the arraignment if the former government scribe and three other individuals and two companies on a 10-count charge bordering on fraud.
Others arraigned with Lawal are his company, a director of the company, Hamidu David Lawal; an employee of the company, Sulaiman Abubakar; and the Managing Director of Josmon Technologies Limited, Apeh John Monday; Rholavision Engineering Limited.
Counsel for Babachir, Chief Akin Olujinmi SAN, moved an oral application for his bail, saying that his client had served Nigeria meritorious to the level of Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Counsel for other defendants, Sunday Ameh SAN, Napoleon Edenala, Ocholi Okutekpa and M E Oru, also moved bail applications for their respective clients.
