The two ruling houses in an application filed on their behalf by four people; Sunday Olusegun Oladejo, Olagoke Atunwa, Prince Oyeleke Jolaoso and Raufu Adelowo, to contest the issue of the Lanlate Baale stool, asked the court to make some declarations and grant some orders.
Those joined as defendants in the suit for themselves and on behalf of the Bioku ruling house are Abdullateef Olawuyi Olagoke, Alhaji K.M. Olaosegba and Alhaji Makanjuola Aderoju.
Also joined as defendants are the Oyo State Governor, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo state, the Oyo state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy matters and Ibarapa East Local Government.
They asked the court to declare the 2006 Baale Lanlate Chieftaincy declaration approved and registered on November 30, 2006 represents the Customary Law regulating the selection, appointment and installation of the Baale of Lanlate.
The families also asked the court to declare that by the native law and custom of Lanlate and Baale of Lanlate Chieftaincy declaration of 2006, the Oguntayi and Adio are Lanlate Chieftaincy families.
They further asked for a declaration that the selection and appointment of Abdullateef Olawuyi Olagoke is not valid and that he or any member of the Bioku family is not entitled to become the Baale of Lanlate at present because it is not their turn to produce the Baale.
In addition, they asked the court to declare that the Oyo state government and its agencies cannot lawfully remove Sunday Olusegun Oladejo from office during the pendency of a suit delineated HER/6/2008 and the purported reinstatement and restoration to office of Abdullateef Olawuyi Olagoke by a letter dated February 13, 2012 is illegal, unlawful, null and void.
And further that his approval as Baale by the state government during the pendency of a suit is illegal, null and void.
They asked the court for an order nullifying the approval of his appointment as Baale of Lanlate by the Oyo state government as contained in its gazette of Number 12 Volume 39 of June 19, 2014 and nullifying the instrument of office to the ruling house on January 12, 2013.
