Aziza Development Foundation expands Financial Literacy Program for women to Orile Ilugun, Olokemeji

The Aziza Development Foundation, having successfully concluded its financial literacy program in Laniba community, has now extended its impactful sessions to Orile Ilugun and Olokemeji communities in Odeda local government area.

During the event, the Foundation’s Executive Director, Funmi Okubanjo, expressed her satisfaction with the turnout and the favorable weather conditions that contributed to the program’s success. She highlighted the enthusiastic participation of women from both Orile Ilugun and Olokemeji, who were educated on crucial financial topics such as pensions, insurance, bookkeeping, and smart saving strategies.

The initiative, which also benefited women introduced through an International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) reforestation project, included a special briefing on building a successful honey business. Okubanjo underscored the program’s benefits, which included access to capital and connections to buyers for farm produce at reasonable prices. She emphasized the importance of community leadership in gaining the women’s trust and ensuring the program’s success.

“Next steps involve organizing the women into clusters, with existing members like our cluster head handling training topics such as bookkeeping and insurance,” Okubanjo explained. “This structure facilitates ongoing education and easier access to capital through our partners.” She added.

Mrs. Grace Balogun, the current cluster head of Orile Ilugun, praised the Foundation’s initial awareness efforts, which primed the community for the literacy sessions. She highlighted the transformative education received and the edge provided by the soft loans from the Foundation.

Beneficiaries Mrs. Agbeyemi Titilayo and Mrs. Omoyeni Ajayi also commended the Foundation, pledging to meet the requirements for accessing capital and praying for the Foundation’s continued growth.

In his own words; Elder Benjamin Ishola, who is the community head of Orile Ilugun, expressed his immense joy, noting that such a pivotal event had never before been brought to their community. He shared his optimism about the positive economic impact the sessions would bring.

The Aziza Development Foundation’s commitment to financial inclusion and women’s economic empowerment is setting a new precedent in Odeda, fostering growth and sustainability for these rural communities.
