Ayomike: Okowa commiserates with Itsekiri nation

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa,
Delta State

DELTA State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on Thursday, expressed deep sadness over the death of the Chairman of Itsekiri Leaders of Thought (ILOT), Pa Johnson Oritsegbubemi Ayomike, who passed on at the age of 90.

He described the late Pa Ayomike as a great historian, excellent writer and community leader who promoted harmonious relations between the Itsekiri nation and residents of the oil city of Warri.

Governor Okowa in a condolence message by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, commiserated with the Ayomike family, the Itsekiri nation and the people of Warri on the demise of the nonagenarian historian and prolific writer.

“The late Pa Ayomike was a great author and former Commissioner of Health in the old Bendel State and a community leader who lived a simple life and reportedly rejected Chieftaincy titles twice.

“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I commiserate with the Ayomike family, the Itsekiri nation and the people of Warri on the demise of the nonagenarian historian, prolific writer and Chairman of the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, Pa J.O.S. Ayomike.

“He will be remembered for his phenomenal and outstanding contributions as an advocate of contemporary Itsekiri causes,” he said.

The governor prayed God Almighty to grant the family and the Itsekiri nation the fortitude to bear the loss.

Pa Ayomike reportedly died at a private hospital in Warri, late Wednesday at 90.
