THE Ayegun Olojuoro axis is one of the fast-growing areas in Oyo State population-wise. This expansion has led to the emergence of various activities associated with life sustenance in the area.
Economic activities in the area are presently concentrated on the roadside between Mosalasi Bus Stop and Ayegun Junction. The occupation of the roadside by the foodstuff sellers and okada riders constitutes obstruction of vehicular traffic in the area.
Cab drivers have also created a park in front of Ayegun Community School where they pick and offload passengers. This is not a healthy development in a learning environment.
The Oyo State government needs to take a proactive measure to control proliferation of illegal structures in the area and to protect the school surrounding.
The government, as a stakeholder in the area, owes the responsibility to protect the learning environment for maximum educational gains, in addition to the general environmental order in the area. The Oyo State Ministry of Education is particularly involved in this matter and needs to point its inspection and monitoring light in this direction.
