Awoniyi’s daughter joins Kogi House of Reps contest

Published by

A daughter of Chief Sunday Awoniyi, the late Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) chairman, Bisi Awoniyi, has joined the house of representatives contest in Yagba federal constituency of Kogi State.

Awoniyi, who is contesting on the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP), said she wanted to enter into “contractual agreement” with the people of the three local government areas that constitute Yagba federal constituency.

Speaking with reporters at a gathering of party faithful in Egbe, Yagba west local government area Awoniyi, who was in the federal constituency to meet her coordinators, disclosed that the purpose of her visit was to familiarise with party executives and coordinators following the successful conduct of SDP Congresses in the state.

According to her, she decided to meet first with the executives as a mark of respect being authorities at their various ward and local government levels before taking the campaign to the people in their domains.

She expressed optimism that the election will be decided in her favour.

Awoniyi said, “After the congresses, I decided to come and formally introduce myself to local government executives and also to meet with women leaders at the ward and local government levels and also to introduce women leaders in Mopamuro to women leaders in Yagba West.

“I seized that opportunity to sit formally to hand over a contractual agreement between me and those that will act as my coordinators for the coming election. We decided to start from Yagba West, we are going to replicate the same thing in Yagba East and Mopamuro”.

Awoniyi, however, expressed optimism that she would win the election, “I have never been a pessimist in life and I cannot see my self-thinking I cannot make it. For me to come out to say I am running for anything it is because I know my chances are very high. It is a foregone conclusion and I am happy at the response I got from the people.

He commended SDP leader in the state, former Minister of Police Affairs, Barr Humphrey Abah for his contributions towards the popularisation of the party in the state.
