The Chairman of the Apostolic Church of Nigeria, LAWNA Territory, Pastor Dr S.G.O Ujeh, on Friday, lauded the contributions of both Papa Obafemi Awolowo and his jewel of inestimable value, Mama HID Awolowo to the growth of the Apostolic Church Nigeria.

Ujeh disclosed this when he led principal officers of the Church on a familiarization visit to former Ambassador of Nigeria to The Netherlands, Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, at the Awolowo residence in Ikenne -Remo

He hinted that the late Premier of the defunct Western Region and his wife, greatly supported the Church during their lifetimes, and that their contributions to the Apostolic Church would never be forgotten in its history.

While commending Ambassador Awolowo Dosumu for sustaining and upholding the legacies left behind by her parents, Pastor Ujeh said the Awolowo family respected the Church.

He also said that the Apostolic Church Nigeria would continue to affiliate itself with the family.

He said, “We are here on a courtesy visit to the family as new administrators of the Church. This place has been our home for years.

“Mama HID Awolowo was an Apostolic girl choir in her days before she got married to her husband, Papa Awolowo, who was of the Anglican faith.

“Papa Awolowo is a lover of the Church. They supported the Church. They are the foundation helpers of the Church.

“The duo are pillars of the Apostolic and Anglican Churches. We want you to continue to sustain this. We will always affiliate ourselves with the family. We recognize you and the family.

“We appreciate God in your life for sustaining the legacies of your parents. We will continue to recognize the family at all times.

“We will always pray for God’s guidance and protection over the Awolowo Dynasty,” he added.

In her remarks, Dr Awolowo Dosumu appreciated the leadership of the Church for the visit.

She recalled that her maternal grandmother was an Apostolic Church faithful in her lifetime while recognizing the spiritual experience the family enjoyed from the Church.

Ambassador Awolowo Dosumu congratulated the new Church administrators and prayed for success during their tenure.

“I want to appreciate the Church for the spiritual support towards the family over the years. My maternal grandmother was a founding member of the Apostolic Church. We will continue to uphold and support the Church.

“The Apostolic Church tends to be our succour in our hours of need. We thank God for keeping the Church going and I pray that the Lord will keep the leadership through,” she added.
