Awolowo and the secrets of success

Published by
Chief Obafemi Awolowo

THE sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, was once asked to explain the secret behind his success. His answer was that when everyone was asleep, he remained awake.

Nigerians are being skinned alive, as it were, by politicians. Money is used to shear off our skins in our completely helpless state. The media regrettably seems to be more concerned with generating extra revenue than being the voice of the voiceless, looking the other way as we lay wounded and traumatized. It seems some have lost their voice. Can we blame them?

Nobody is interrogating the system that allows brazen monumental corruption going on now in a regime engaged in the anti-corruption war.

In Nigeria, anywhere the rolling stones (looters) go, they gather moss. The average Nigerian politician is a fraudster, an actor, a looter, a liar and a deceiver all rolled into one. The truth unfolding by the day is that the country is being bled to death by their activities.

We brought the darkness upon ourselves when we rejected the light offered by the all-time great Nigerian philosopher and sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. His light could have taken us to altitudes of achievement that could make Nigeria the reference point for other developing countries. We chose darkness instead.
