The chairmen of Gbaramatu communities have charged the new board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to eschew politics and adhere strictly to the mandate of the commission.
Chairman of Kokodiagbene Community, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, who spoke on behalf of the chairmen congratulated members of the NDDC on their successful inauguration.
He, however, implored members of the new board of the NDDC not to play politics with the commission, adding that the privilege should not be used to compensate loyalists.
Mulade said the management of NDDC should embark on people-orientated capital projects and not mere distribution of school books and desks as it was in the past.
He also tasked the new board on the need to give priority to host communities for them to have sense of belonging.
“I want to use this medium on behalf of the Chairmen of Gbaramatu Communities in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State to congratulate the new members of the NDDC.
“It is my charge to members of the new board of the Commission to be upright in the handling of the affairs of the commission.
“The commission must embark on people-oriented capital projects to open up the entire Niger Delta region,” Mulade added.
He added that great focus should be given to rural oil bearing-communities in the region.
