GENERAL Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Reverend Sam Aboyeji, has urged the Nigerian government to exercise caution in addressing the country’s challenges.
Aboyeji stated this at the 69th annual convention of the church, held at church’s camp in Ajebo, Ogun State, emphasising the need for the government to avoid exacerbating the sufferings of Nigerians.
He advised that the haste in resolving the inherited problems should be tempered with consideration for the citizens’ well-being.
The convention, which drew over 50,000 Christians from across the country, featured Bible teachings, prophetic ministration, and a significant moment in the church’s leadership.
Reverend Aboyeji was re-elected as the General Overseer for another five-year term, a decision that was affirmed by the church’s delegates earlier in April.
“My advice to the government is to take it easy and stop rushing to fix the problems because Nigerians are groaning.
“It is like the government is rushing and in a hurry to get to where we are going. We all know the way is far, but the government should take it slowly because it is getting too hard. They should, therefore, soften it a little and believe the promise of God for the country and we will get there,” Aboyeji admonished.
He said God had promised that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.
Aboyeji also drew the attention of the government to the many prophecies about the nation, which cannot fail.
According to him, God has declared Nigeria as the glory of Africa and neither the devil nor the country’s adversaries can prevent God’s promise from coming to pass.
Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Reverend Bukola Adeleke, praised the church for its significant role in promoting education, and morals and shaping lives.
The governor praised the church’s mission, which focuses on transforming communities and providing hope to those in need. Rev. Olabisi Aboyeji, the General Overseer’s wife, encouraged parents to remember that the home is the first school for their children and wards.
Meanwhile, the District Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church, Ibadan, Oyo State, Reverend Solomon Wada, has praised Reverend Aboyeji for his exemplary character and unwavering commitment to defending the gospel of Jesus Christ.
This acknowledgment was made during Reverend Wada’s consecration as the new Oyo Axis Coordinator by the General Overseer at the recent convention.
He expressed that the Oyo Axis, which comprises seven districts, holds a significant spiritual responsibility.
He viewed his appointment as a divine call to engage in greater spiritual endeavors. Emphasizing his reliance on the Holy Spirit for guidance and direction, Reverend Wada committed to fulfilling his duties with the constant support and leadership of the Holy Spirit, ensuring that his service would be aligned with God’s purpose.
“We shall collectively pursue the main goal of the church, which is the spreading of the gospel anywhere that man is found. We shall be fully committed to the Church’s goal of a decade of soaring,” adding that globally, Foursquare Gospel Church was one hundred and one years this year and sixty-nine years in Nigeria,” he added.
