Avoid criticism, pray for your leaders, cleric urges Nigerians

Published by

Senior Evangelist Ebenezer Osofa of the Celestial Church of Christ has urged Nigerians to persistently pray for the nation’s leaders, asking for divine wisdom and knowledge to effectively manage the country’s affairs.

He emphasised the importance of remaining dedicated to national service.

Osofa delivered this message during a three-day event themed “Pulling down Strongholds,” organized by the Celestial Church of Christ, Upper 8 Parish in Calabar, where he was a guest speaker.

He highlighted that leaders face significant challenges ahead, underscoring the necessity for collective prayer for their success. “Every Nigerian has a responsibility to continually pray for our leaders,” he stated.

“As the world evolves, we too must adapt. The issues Nigeria faces today are part of a broader global trend.

“Both Celestial members and non-members should collaborate to enhance our country’s greatness, providing our leaders with prayer support rather than criticism, as instructed by the Bible. Our prayers should seek to grant them the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding needed for effective governance and impactful leadership.”

Attendees were encouraged to maintain a positive outlook in their evaluations and criticism of the government.

In his sermon, Osofa defined strongholds as forces that obstruct God’s plans in our lives, categorized as diabolical and satanic. He emphasized that combating these strongholds requires spiritual strength, guided by 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, as they can manifest as fear, depression, or discord among individuals.

Prophet David Ekpo, Shepherd of the Celestial Church of Christ, Upper 8 Parish, also spoke at the event, noting that previous years have seen significant miracles and expressing hope that this year’s program will yield even greater wonders.

“I anticipate that at the conclusion of this three-day event, God will dismantle every stronghold and affirm His existence, as the Psalms declare that only fools deny God. I wish for everyone, including those imprisoned by satanic forces, to experience freedom and glorify God,” he said.
