Averting road traffic crashes in this season

The Business Dictionary defines safety as the state of being safe; freedom from the occurrence of risk of injury, danger or loss.

Though, sometimes, we may find ourselves in a tough environment, having a safety-conscious mind helps us to know where to go. It is very important to be familiar with your environment, be it your workplace, home or destination, and to know the do’s and don’ts of the place.

It is good to know about a road when embarking on a trip, be it within a state or outside it.

There are a lot of road furniture (road signs) that tell us about the conditions of the road.

In this Christmas season, we all know that there is a general increase in the population of road users due to one reason or the other. This is a season  when students, business men and women and families travel on the road for various purposes.

And based on past data, crashes are recorded mostly in this season and these crashes are mainly caused by individual errors.

There are road rules and regulations for road users that will make them to avert crashes.

But most times, we neglect them. Rarely do people use seat belts when driving, unless  they see road safety officers on the road. Many rarely adhere to the speed limits.

The acts that lead to crashes include speeding, being under the effect of alcohol, receiving calls while driving, lack of concentration/distractions, and neglecting the mechanical balance of vehicles.

We can avoid road crashes. We can reduce them drastically if we follow the stipulated rules and regulations. Getting to one’s destination in a good condition is vital.

Drivers should maintain mental and physical balance anytime they are ready to handle the steering wheel.

Many great minds, youths that are meant to show forth the glory of their family and country at large have lost their lives because of road crashes.

This is a time when we all have to help the community and ourselves by being under one canopy: safety.
