The younger brother to the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who died on Sunday, Chief Deji Adeleke, on Wednesday, said the autopsy report on the cause of the politician’s death was not yet ready.
He said Nigerians and Osun people should disregard rumours doing the rounds on the actual cause of the death, adding that it was imperative on the part of the family to correct the impression being created in some sections of the media.
Addressing a press conference inside the home of the deceased, in Ede, Deji Adeleke said: “We want to correct some wrong information in the social media. I want to thank God for the life of our brother, Senator Adeleke.”
The development came against the backdrop of reported snapshot of one of Adeleke’s children, Tunji Adeleke, who claimed that his father was killed by some people ahead of 2018 governorship election in the state.
However, Deji Adeleke said: “as painful as the death of our brother is, we are still grieving. He was our hero. He was well until he died. We thank God for giving him to us and what he achieved. Despite the fact that he was a Muslim, we had to delay his burial on Sunday till Monday to determine the cause of his death. The autopsy had been conducted and the doctors said it would take about one to two weeks before the result will be released.
“We are urging our people to maintain peace and desist from causing violence over Adeleke’s death. People should ignore the rumours over the cause of his death. The result is not out.”
“I want to thank President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Governor Niyi Adebayo, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, the Chief Imam and all Muslim clerics that identified with us over the death of the late senator.
“We also thank the entire people of the state and the Osun State government. We should mourn his death in peace.”
