Favi, born as Favour Chinedu Chukwuedu Ikemefuna, Recognized by various aliases such as Omo Oro, Asoro, Gidi Boy, and King of the Bside, is a talented Nigerian Afroswing rapper, singer, and songwriter. Making significant contributions to the music industry and known for his establishment of FineDope, a vibrant music and creative community, Favi’s musical style effortlessly blends various genres, including hip hop, alté, afropop, afroswing, trap, and drill.
Born and raised in the Bariga area of Lagos State, Favi has roots in Delta State. He pursued his academic studies at the University of Benin in Edo State, where he earned a degree in Geography and Regional Planning.
Favi’s musical journey began in 2015 when he first showcased his skills as a rapper on the popular platform SoundCloud. Since then, he has released several noteworthy projects that have captivated audiences. His debut EP, titled “Vibes and Vices” was released on April 8, 2021. This was followed by a few singles and a sophomore project EP, “Friday Night In Lagos” In February 23, 2022 which featured collaborations with esteemed artists such as Psycho Yp, Zilla Oaks, and Yung Kossi. Prior to this release, Favi joined forces with the talented musicians from his FineDope community for a collaborative EP called “Family Business.”
In August 2022, Favi dropped the single “Crime,” a powerful track featuring Psycho Yp and Hotkid, which further solidified his presence in the Nigerian music scene. This was quickly followed by one of his widespread single, STILL BROKE, which has garnered a lot of attention online, including the streetwear brand, STILL BROKE owned by Godson. The following year, in January 2023, Favi released the EP “Nice Life Problems,” a collaborative effort with Nigerian musician Zayy The Dino.
While Favi’s passion lies in creating music, he has also expressed his thoughts on competition. he has constantly emphasized that while there is competition in the industry, his primary focus remains on continuous improvement and exploring new creative horizons. This statement aimed to dispel any rumours suggesting that Favi would solely concentrate on managing the FineDope music community without pursuing his own music career.
