The African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council ( AU-ECOSOCC) has urged the Federal government(FG) to prioritise massive investment in youth development to curb restiveness and other social vices.
It stressed the need for the government and relevant stakeholders to encourage the youths in line with the agenda 2063 which is aimed at accelerating the implementation of past and existing continental initiatives for growth and sustainable development.
Nigerian Representative,(AU-ECOSOCC), Dr Tunji Asaolu stated this in Abuja at the unveiling of first Nigeria, Youth Ambassador Award(NYAA) and Miss Nigeria Youth Ambassador (MNYA) organised by the Centre for advocacy and Development in Africa(CADA).

“The youths need to be encouraged and we have similar programs at the level of the African Union(AU) we are talking about the agenda 2063 which is to encourage youths that are doing well where others see them as role models.
“We want to assure of the AU supports towards the success of this project in the best way that we can,” he added.
Earlier, CADA’s President, Uzoh Ifeanyi stated that the project was aimed at promoting efforts of the Nigerian youths in line with the Sustainable Development Goals( SDGs), AU agenda 2063, and the United Nations youth agenda in Nigeria.
According to him, the initiative is also jeered towards calling government and stakeholders’ attention to increased investment in youth development in the country.
He further noted that the MNYA project will help raise awareness on the roles of female youths in contributing to the SDGs as it deals with poverty reduction, migration issues, gender equality, among others.
