Great significance should be attributed to our natural national historical monuments. This is because they not only helped in the development of this country, they also reflect the retardation of our regional developmental process. River Niger is my focus here because it is one among the natural elements located in my immediate environment in Lokoja, Kogi State.
The sight of this body of nature is extremely alluring. It is obvious that River Niger played a vital role in the history of this great country. However, it seems to be an abandoned body of nature and I am astonished by the prospects of this unutilised resource. My wish is that the Kogi State government works towards the projection of this natural endowment which really would in turn boost the economy of the state and also create employment opportunities.
