He added that the PDP primary election that produced Atiku, which was said to be free, fair and credible has given hope to Nigerians who had been traumatised by the harsh economic policies of the president Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) government.Akuh, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP and a member representing Omala state constituency, who spoke in Lokoja, the state capital, noted that the people would benefit immensely from the wealth of experience of the former number two man which he said had garnered from public service, private sector and his eight years stint as the vice president of this country.
The lawmaker added that the country at present needed a man that could initiate policies and programmes that could improve the welfare of the masses.
According to him, the PDP had made the best choice by electing Atiku at this period of general despair and disenchantment across the country, stressing that the election has given the people a choice to choose between poverty and prosperity.
Akuh relived his experience as an officer under the command of Atiku in the customs service saying he was a fine officer and a gentleman who was loved by all officers and men under his watch, adding that Nigeria and Nigerians would be better if elected in the general election.
He added that the former vice president as the head of the economic team of the Obasanjo administration through privatisation brought the GSM revolution that has become the major achievement of all times.
He commended the delegates for their overwhelming votes for the party’s candidates, saying Atiku was capable of he will fast-tracking development of human and natural transformation of the country.
According to him, “Atiku’s pedigree is intimidating. The ruling APC is already jittery over his candidature. They had wanted it to be another aspirant. The die is cast and at the end of the day, the Nigeria people will rejoice.
