The Senate of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has decided to extend the resumption date for undergraduate students to January 7th, 2024, following an emergency meeting convened at the Senate Chamber in Gubi Campus.
Initially, the University management had announced a one-week closure of the University for all undergraduate students from December 4th to 10th, 2023.
This decision was made to prevent potential disruptions to the peace and order on the Yelwa and Gubi campuses.
The move to extend the closure came after unrest among some students following the tragic incident involving the death of a fellow student allegedly attacked by unidentified assailants in Yelwan Ngas, a Bauchi suburb.
LAlhaji Zailani Bappah, the Director of Information and Public Relations, confirmed the unfortunate demise of the student in a statement.
