ATBU dismisses closure rumours

Management of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi has dismissed as baseless, unfounded rumour of plans to close the institution.

Rumour has been going round in the past two days that the University will be closed due to lack of funds to run it by the Management.

A statement from the Directorate of Information of the University, signed by the Director, Zailani Bappa said that it was mere rumour by the mongers for reasons best known to them.

He wrote, “The attention of the Management of the University is drawn to a fabricated news credited to the DW (Hausa) on where it mentioned that ATBU may close down due to economic hardship.”

According to him, “The Management of the University categorically debunked this story from whatever source it was generated. In fact, nobody spoke to DW on behalf of the University nor issued out any information to that medium in this regard.”

Zailani Bappa further wrote, “The public is, therefore, requested to be wary of Information shared in the name of the University without authentic source.”
