ATBU Bauchi laments inadequate road network in Gubi main campus

The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has urgently appealed to the State Governor, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, to address the road infrastructure gaps within the Gubi main campus.

ATBU’s management emphasized that the Gubi main campus urgently needs an internal road network, the installation of solar street lights, and the rehabilitation of existing campus roads, which date back to the 1980s.

The appeal was made by the Vice Chancellor of ATBU, Prof. Kunya, during a special visit by the Commissioner of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Hon. Ibrahim Gambo Galadima, to the university’s main campus in Gubi.

During the meeting with the university’s management, the Vice Chancellor, represented by Malam Aminu Yakubu Adamu, Acting Director of the Physical Planning Unit, noted that the Federal Ministry of Education does not have a mandate for road construction.

As a result, the university has sought the Governor’s intervention to improve the environment through road construction.

Malam Aminu also commended the Governor for his significant contributions to road construction, which have met the needs and aspirations of the state’s residents.

He highlighted that the Gubi to Nasarawan Siyi road project is one of the Governor’s legacy projects, noting that it not only enhances the socio-economic lives of many communities but also provides easy access to the university’s main campus.

In response, Commissioner Ibrahim Gambo Galadima assured that the Governor of Bauchi State is committed to all initiatives that positively impact the people.

He stated that the Governor has made notable achievements in urban renewal, rural transformation, educational development, and good governance.

The Commissioner assured that the request would be relayed to the Governor for consideration and necessary action, as stated by Muhammad Sani Yunusa, Information Officer.
