ASCSN leadership court judgment: Okon urges members to remain calm

In the wake of recent legal developments, the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has urged its members nationwide to remain composed and law-abiding.

The plea follows a judicial ruling regarding the union’s leadership, with assurances from ASCSN’s National President, Comrade Tommy Etim Okon, that justice will prevail.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, Comrade Okon addressed ongoing concerns stemming from a legal dispute initiated by Bola-Audu Innocent, formerly associated with ASCSN.

The controversy began when Bola-Audu, embroiled in a case related to alleged human trafficking, opted to challenge ASCSN in court, contrary to the union’s internal protocols.

In response to these actions, ASCSN took decisive measures to uphold its integrity and operational stability. According to the statement, Bola-Audu’s suspension was implemented in accordance with ASCSN’s constitutional provisions.

Furthermore, measures were taken by external entities, such as the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Head of Service, to restrict his access to official duties.

Addressing the union members, Comrade Okon stressed the importance of unity and adherence to lawful processes during the period, stressing that ASCSN remains committed to protecting the interests of its members while ensuring procedural fairness in all internal matters.

The leadership’s proactive stance underscores ASCSN’s dedication to maintaining organisational coherence amidst external pressures.

Comrade Okon also stated that efforts are underway to appeal the recent court ruling, underscoring the union’s determination to uphold its governance structure and preserve its reputation.

“As ASCSN prepares to navigate through these legal proceedings, members are encouraged to remain steadfast and avoid any actions that could undermine the union’s collective stance. The union leadership reassures members that every effort is being made to resolve the situation swiftly and equitably,” he added.
