Arrest our member who foment trouble – Ondo NURTW chairman

THE Chairman of the Ondo State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Adetula Ariyo, on Monday called on the security agencies in the state to deal decisively with any members of the Union who plan to foment trouble in the state

Adetula who made this appeal in Akure, Ondo state capital, warned that, the union should not to be politicized by individual or group of members.

He said, “I want to use this opportunity to appeal to all the law enforcement agencies, to call those involved to order, so as not to punctuate the current peace radiating in Ondo State. NURTW is not a political Union and not for a particular government or administration. I was democratically elected for four years tenure and I have just spent Eight months in Office.”

The NURTW Chairman, who attributed the peace that had been reigning in the state, including enthroning the leadership of NURTW peacefully, to the ingenuity of Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

“Before Governor Olusegun Mimiko became the number one citizen of Ondo State, NURTW was used to changing their officers with cutlasses and guns, but since he became the governor, he supported the use of constitution and democratic means of changing officers.

“Precisely Eight months ago, I was Democratically elected as the state chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Ondo State Council, publicly sworn in in presence of our National President, Alhaji Najeem Usman Yasin, all National Executive Officers, all past state Chairmen of the union and drivers in the state, held at International Event Center (DOME), Akure, Ondo State

“My constitutional mandate as state chairman was to run the affairs of the union for Four years, like every other reputable union in Nigeria.”
