The Nigeria Army has rewarded soldiers who demonstrated exceptional bravery during the dry season operation against Boko Haram insurgents in the North East with houses.
The event took place on Thursday at the Command Guest Inn, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno state capital.
At the ceremony, held on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Theatre Commander, Maj-Gen. Waidi Shuaibu commended the soldiers for their gallantry and urged them to remain committed to ensuring success in the fight against the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents in the region.
Presenting keys to three soldiers who demonstrated exceptional bravery in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents, Shuaibu said the soldiers were awarded three-bedroom houses each in Abuja, complete with a parlour, in recognition of their gallantry.
According to Maj-Gen. Shuaibu, the houses serve as a morale booster for the soldiers, acknowledging their sacrifices and commitment to protecting the nation.
“The gesture aims to motivate and encourage the soldiers to continue their efforts in combating terrorism and insurgency.”
The ceremony highlighted the Army’s appreciation for the soldiers’ dedication and hard work, reinforcing their commitment to supporting and recognizing their personnel’s contributions to the fight against terrorism.
