Armed youths alleged to be members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) today attacked and broke vehicles in the convoy of Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state during President Muhamadu Buhari’s presidential campaign in Jalingo.
This was disclosed by Bala Danhabu, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Darius on media and publicity during a press briefing at government house in Jalingo.
Danhabu said the armed youths attacked the convoy on its way out of the airport when he accompanied president Buhari after the president concluded the campaign in the state capital.
“Governor Ishaku’s convoy was attacked on its way out of the airport where the governor, his deputy, Haruna Manu and other senior members of the government had gone to see off President Buhari at the end of the presidential visit.”

“The governor’s car and several other cars in the convoy including that of the state Commissioner of police and a special adviser to the governor were damaged.”
“Thugs, most of who were recruited from neighbouring states to create the false impression that APC enjoys a large following in the state, came heavily armed. They carried guns, cutlasses and sticks which they displayed openly in the full glare of security agencies who merely looked the other.”
“On the eve of President Buhari’s visit, thugs hired by APC Leadership in the state had gone round Jalingo metropolis and it’s environs and destroyed PDP posters and bill boards.”
“They were given cover by security agencies who fired gunshots to scare away those may dare to confront them.”
