Northern groups under the auspices of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) and the Northern Awareness Network has refuted statements made by Honourable Aminu Sani Jaji, accusing the Minister of State for Defense, Bello Muhammed Matawalle, of being behind allegations of anti-party activities made by some APC elders from the state.
The group, in separate statements made available to journalists in Kaduna on Sunday, said the claims not only lack credibility but also serve as a smokescreen for Hon. Jaji’s questionable political dealings that have come to light.
A statement issued by the President-General of the forum, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, averred that Honourable Jaji has attempted to position himself as a champion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a proponent of unity within the party.
However, Shettima viewed Jaji’s actions as a calculated strategy to further his political ambitions, which have been marred by allegations.
“The AYCF firmly believes that the people of Nigeria deserve leaders who are transparent and accountable, not those who exploit their trust for personal gain,” the statement read.

Similarly, in a statement by NAN through its Chairman, Salihu Suleiman, the group stated that Hon. Jaji’s history of inconsistency raises significant doubts about his credibility as a leader, adding that in a time when the nation faces numerous challenges, stable leadership is paramount.
“The remarks made by Jaji not only lack substantiation but also reflect a deeper issue regarding his own reliability and judgment.
“The Northern Awareness Network recognizes that leadership is not merely about holding a position of power; it is about embodying qualities that inspire trust and confidence among constituents.
“Minister Bello Mohammed Matawalle exemplifies these qualities. His tenure has been marked by a steadfast commitment to the security and well-being of our communities.
“Under his guidance, we have seen significant strides in enhancing national security, fostering community relations, and promoting a sense of unity among diverse groups,” the statement added.
Recall that a group known as the Jajiya Political Movement, in response to a report where the member representing Kaura/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency, Dr. Aminu Sani Jaji, was accused of anti-party activities, alleged that the Minister of State for Defense, Matawalle, orchestrated a mission to tarnish the political image of their principal, Hon. Jaji.
However, NAN, in stark contrast, stated that Jaji’s volatility raises serious concerns about his ability to provide the stable governance required in today’s complex political landscape.
The group added that his actions and statements often reflect a lack of foresight and responsibility—critical attributes for any leader.
“This inconsistency not only jeopardizes the integrity of his own decisions but also undermines the confidence of stakeholders who seek reliable representation,” NAN stated.
