Archbishop Ademowo tasks clerics on preaching the true gospel

Published by

Diocesan Bishop of Lagos and Dean Emeritus of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Dr Ephraim Adebola Ademowo, has called on clerics to always ensure they preached the true gospel.

He stated this in his sermon at the inauguration of Lekki Archdeaconry, and the induction and institution of Venerable Oluseyi Olaoluwa Pirisola as the Vicar of All Souls Church, Lekki and the Archdeacon of Lekki.

According to Ademowo, the duty of a vicar is to mobilise members of the church to develop spiritually.

He said: “Allow the Holy Spirit to be pre-eminent. Your messages should be as the Lord directs. It is your duty to be on guard and it is extremely important for you to be a spiritual dynamite so as to carry out the operations of the Lord effectively and constructively.

“There is no way you can do this job without stepping on people’s toes. You must never be a people pleaser. Stop stealing the show. Stop edging out. Preach the gospel and don’t preach prosperity. The word of God is our nutrition. It is our therapy. It gives peace and blessings. It is our assurance and balm of Gilead.”

Speaking with TribuneChurch, the newly installed vicar, Venerable Pirisola, said lack of knowledge of the word of God was the source of disunity in Nigeria.

He emphasised the need to preach the word and see to the depopulation of the children of God from the kingdom of darkness and increase their population in the kingdom of heaven.
