Appeal to Oyo govt

I want to use this opportunity to appeal to the Oyo State government, under the leadership of Senator Abiola Ajimobi, to pardon the shut schools where some students rampaged recently thereby leading to the burning of some classrooms.

The truth is that when sinners suffer, the innocent also share in the suffering, and I want to say that the majority of the pupils of the affected schools are law-abiding.

It is so unfortunate that just a minute number of unserious students who failed their examinations had protested against the new education policy in the state, and many students are now sharing in the suffering as a result of the closure of the affected schools.

While being of the opinion that indiscipline students should be punished, I am against the idea of all the students suffering due to the stupidity of a few. It is a good thing that those who burnt their classrooms have been apprehended, and they are giving useful statements to the police, but all the other students should not be made to suffer as a result of the actions of their unruly colleagues.

Consequently, I want to call on the Oyo State government to tamper justice with mercy and reopen the affected schools.

I also want to commend the government on this new education policy which is ensuring that only academically-sound students are promoted to the next class. This will go a long way in presenting brilliant students for the final year WAEC examinations, thereby improving the standard of education in the state.
