Appeal Court gets 12 more justices, 9 additional judges for Federal High Court

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved twelve Justices for the Court of Appeal, nine new Judges for the Federal High Court and seven for the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

A statement by Director of Information of the National Judicial Council (NJC), Soji Oye made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday said the appointment of the Judicial Officers by the President followed the recommendation of the NJC.

According to the statement, the twelve Justices approved for the Court of Appeal are, Justices P. A. Mahmud, F. O. Ojo, I. A Andenyangsto, G. O. Kolawole, B. B. Aliyu, Ebiowei Tobi, J. G. Abundaga,  A. S. Umar, A. M. Talba, A. M. Bayero, A. M. Lamido and Justice M. B. Idris

The following nine Judges approved by the President for the Federal High Court: are, Sunday Bassey Onu,  Adefunmilola Adekemi Demi-Ajayi,  Peter O. Lifu, Obiora Atuegwu Egwuata,  Sa’adatu Ibrahim Mark (Mrs),  Mobolaji Olubukola Olajuwon, Aminu Bappa Aliyu, Tijjani Garba Ringim and Nkeonye Evelyn Maha

According to the NJC spokesman, the approved seven Judges for the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory by the President are Binta Mohammed, Modupe Osho-Adebiyi, Gaba Venchak Simon,  Babangida Hassan, Akobi Iyabeni Anna, Samirah Umar Bature and  Asmau Akanbi Yusuf.

The Justices of the Court of Appeal will be sworn-in by the. Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and Chairman, National Judicial Council, Justice Walter  Onnoghen on Friday 22nd June 2018, by 10.00 am.

Those appointed for the Federal High Court will be sworn-in on Monday 25th June 2018, at 2.00 pm, and Judges appointed for the High Court of the FCT are to be sworn-in on Tuesday, 26th June 2018, by 2.00 pm at the Main Hall of the Court Room of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
