An appeal to Akeredolu on AAUA

Published by

THE students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, rejoice with and congratulate Governor Rotimi Akeredolu  on his inauguration. We celebrate you and rejoice with you and we pray that the Lord Almighty bestows upon you, the strength and power to rule Ondo State in Jesus’ name.

Sir, we have a few requests. We request that our school fee should remain the same. We pay the least school fees in Nigeria and we appreciate the Ondo State government for that.

The non-payment of workers’ salaries has negatively affected economic activities within and outside the campus. Again, the issue of poor electricity supply in Akungba is unbecoming. The last time we were supplied electricity was April 2016.

The concept of fundamental development enumerates that power is a huge factor in societal development. It must be acknowledged that throughout the whole federation, it is only AAUA that is suffering from this level of electricity failure. Many are cashing in on the situation to steal and to assault our female students.

The mission of the university is “to provide knowledge and skill for self reliance in a conducive environment where teaching, learning and research can take place.” How can this be achieved without a conducive environment? I believe that as the governor of Ondo State, you will have projects to execute and aims to achieve. We students of the university believe that the institution needs some urgent rehabilitation in the areas of lecture theatres, student welfare and security.

This year, we want a smooth academic session and this can only be possible if the school management does not deprive us of our rights. Most especially, our lecturers must be paid regularly. We plead that both the academic and non-academic staff be paid regularly in order to avoid a disruption of the academic calendar. You are a father to us and we believe that you will end all our suffering.
