THE House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ughelli North, South and Udu constituency, Rev Francis Waive, has been declared the winner of the Saturday National Assembly poll.
The APC candidate, Rev Waive polled 41, 385 as against PDP candidate’s Samuel Marierie 35, 126 and SDP’s candidate, Hon Solomon Awhinawhin’s 11, 098.
The result was announced on Monday evening at the INEC collation centre at by the REC, Dr Igbinoba Eghosa.
Speaking after the announcement of the results, Rev Waive extended a hand of fellowship to his co-contestants.
He expressed gratitude to the electorate of the three local government areas for standing by him during the electioneering exercise.
“I am indeed elated today as I say a big thank you to my people; the good people of Ughelli North Ughelli South Udu Constituency who have overwhelmingly elected me to represent them in the Federal House of Representatives.

“I am sure those who made the choice have looked at my pedigree and my antecedents as an Accountant, Development Worker and Cleric of repute before asking me to serve them as their legislator at the federal level.
“I bring to the job my education, skills, patriotism, exposure, contacts and clout to make my people proud.
“I am not here for the social prestige, economic benefits, political access and relevance, but for quality representation and robust engagement of ministries, departments and agencies of the federal government for the benefit of my people,” Waive enthused.
He thanked those who worked tirelessly to ensure his victory, promising to continue to depend on their prayers, counsels and support in order to make a difference.
Waive solicited the support of all and sundry across party lines to bring development and the dividends of democracy to Ughelli North Ughelli South Udu constituency.
While promising development of the constituency, he pledged to promote transparency and accountability in governance in order to bring progress and development to the constituency.
