APC youths reject suspension of Inegbeneki

Crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State took a new turn weekend as youths and ward leaders of the party in Edo Central rejected and disassociated themselves from the purported suspension of Chief Francis Inegbeniki and some other leaders.

The Edo State Working Committee of the party had amongst others in an emergency meeting ratified the suspension of Chief Francis Inegbeneki, vice chairman of the party in Edo Central, Chief Henry Okoror, and Hon. Kenneth Ihensekhien over illegal detention and holding hostage of the state chairman of the party, Barrister Anslem Ojezua, in Uromi on January 2, 2017.

However, at an enlarged meeting heard in Ward 9 held in Opoji, Edo Central Local Government Area, the executives and members of APC condemned the suspension of Chief Francis Inegbeneki and others.

A communiqué signed by the secretary of  Ward 9,  Barrister  Momodu Onusua and Youth Leader, Monday Ojeaga, called on leadership of the APC in the state and the national     headquarters to intervene in the issue.

“While trusting that the leadership of APC will do the needful, we hereby unequivocally pass a vote of implicit confidence on our leaders, Chief Francis Inegbeneki and others.”

The All Progressive Youths Disciples, (APYD) condemn in strong terms the unlawful suspension of our highly responsive, dedicated and committed leaders.

“The activities of Anslem Ojezua on the alleged suspension of these leaders amount to harassment, intimidation, abuse of power of his office which neglects and contravenes Article 21 of APC’s Constitution, which provides for principles of fair hearing.

“While trusting that the leaders of APC will do the needful for the progress of our great party. We hereby unequivocally pass votes of implicit confidence on these leaders; high chief Francis Inegbeneki, Henry Okoror, Ken Ihensekhen, Henry. Okpamenm and others. He concluded.

Meanwhile, in a reaction, Chief Francis Inegbineki, who said the Edo State Party Chairman, Barrister Anslem Ojezua, lacks the power to suspend him, adding that he can only be suspended by his ward party leaders as he doesn’t have the constitutional right to suspend him

He said Ojezua became uncomfortable with his popularity and started exploring illegal means to suspend him the moment he was unanimously adopted as the party leader in Edo Senatorial District.
