The three-man panel headed by former majority leader in Edo state House of Assembly Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen has arrived in Asaba and is expected to receive petitions, if any arising from the state congress held on May 31, 2018.
According to the chairman, the panel was yet to receive any petition as at Wednesday saying that “this morning Senator Omo Agege called me but I told him I have not seen any petition.”
On Monday another factional state executive of the All Progressive Congress in Delta state emerged after Senator Ovie Omo Agege and former governorship candidate in the state Chief Great Ogboru held a congress of the party at Asaba last weekend.
The exercise held at the old campus of the Federal Technical College Asaba was peacefully organized amidst tight security and supervised by officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Apart from the chairmanship position which was keenly contested, all other positions were returned unopposed through a voice vote.
Chief Cyril Ogodor however won by polling 731 votes to defect his rival Fred Obe who got 99 votes.
They were 1439 delegates that voted of which some of the votes were voided.
Mr. Joshua Uturu who was on the race had earlier stepped down for Ogodor shortly before election commenced after due consultation.
Addressing the delegate chairman of the congress committee Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh congratulated the elected officers and advised them to work assiduously for the party to be victorious in the coming elections.
Prominent among the leaders of the party at the congress include Chief Otega Emerho, Chief Hyacinth Eluha and Hon. Victor Ochie a governorship aspirant among others.
