APC North Central approves Abdulahi as Lai Mohammed’s replacement

The All Progressives Congress (APC) North Central zone on Thursday approved the nomination of Mr Bolaji Abdullahi as the National Publicity Secretary.

The former National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had resigned from the position to take up appointment as Minister of Information and National Orientation.

The North Central zone of APC at a mini-convention held at the New Chelsea Hotel in Abuja filled other vacant positions allotted to the zone that were vacant.

Other positions filled by the zone included, National Deputy Treasurer zoned to Niger State, Zonal Secretary zoned to Plateau state and Zonal Organising Secretary zoned to Niger State.

The Deputy Speaker, Nassarawa State House of Assembly, Honourable Godiya Akwashiki, nominated Mr Abdullahi for the position of National Publicity Secretary and his nomination was seconded by the representative of Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki.

Senator Saraki was represented by Senator Sabir Abdullahi.

The chairman, Kwara State APC, Honourable Ishola Balogun-Fulani nominated Barrister Mohammed Zakari for the position of National Deputy Treasurer and his nomination was seconded by Honourable Abubakar Lado Suleja.

The Deputy Speaker, Benue state House of Assembly, Honourable James Ejembi nominated De Zakari Mohammed for the position of Zonal Secretary North Central and his nomination was seconded by Deputy Speaker Plateau state House of Assembly, Honourable Yusuf Datti.

While women leader of APC Kwara State, Hajia Sarah Adebayo nominated Mr Maku Ibrahim for the position of Zonal Organising Secretary North Central and his nomination was seconded by APC State Secretary, Niger State, Barrister Mohammed Liman.

There was no counter nomination against the nominees as they were subsequently adopted through voice votes by the delegates present at the mini convention.

Speaking on behalf of the new officers for the zone, Mr Abdullahi promised that, they would do all within their capacity to strengthen the party.

According to him, “We are aware of the difficult situation we are going through in Nigeria. We assure you that in our respective position we will serve you.”

The mini convention was attended by APC National Vice Chairman, North Central, Honourable Zakari Idde, Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong; Governor of Niger, Mr Sanni Bello. Other state governors from the North Central were represented.
