ALL stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) must work as a team to guarantee victory for the party in the November 26 governorship poll in the state, an APC stalwart, Honourable Dele Alade, has said.
In a statement issued in Akure on Tuesday, he pleaded with them to put behind them issues relating to the conduct of the governorship primary held last month in the overall interest of the APC.
Reiterating his position that the party national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande were critical in the coming election, he said all hands should be on deck to deliver the state to the APC on November 26.
The erstwhile governorship contestant said that the onus was on the APC standard bearer, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) to take pragmatic steps towards having an all-inclusive team capable of swaying prospective voters in favour of the party during the campaign ahead of the election.
He restated that though the primary election might not have been perfect, especially because the leading aspirants tried to compromise delegates, the assignment at hand, which is to deliver the state to APC was far more important than any other cause now.
“He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. But, the primary election has ended and a winner has emerged in Akeredolu. So, the most honoruable thing to do now is for all and sundry to support him so that we can have a chance to win the election,” Alade stated.
He expressed optimism that Tinubu and Akande would support the APC candidate in Ondo if we the party leaders, especially Akeredolu could do more to earn their confidence and trust to pursuing the ideals and programmes of the party aimed at the rapid development of the state.
Having followed Tinubu and Akande closely for about two decades, Alade said he could vouch for them that they meant well for Ondo people.
He enjoined his supporters to team up with him in working aggressively for the party’s candidate, noting that he was one of the great proponents of Yoruba agenda designed to integrate and develop Western Nigeria.”
