The ruling party secretariat, located along Gbongan-Ibadan expressway in Osogbo, the state capital was under heavy security as two Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), manned by anti-riot policemen were stationed at the frontage of the building, while a section of the expressway was closed to traffic.
Notable governorship contenders sighted during the parley include the Chief of Staff (CoS) to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Lasun Yussuff, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Najeem Salaam, Chief Peter Adebayo Babalola, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, Chief Peter Babalola, Mr Saka Layoonu Yussuf (SAN), former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Sunday Akere and Hon Yinka Ajayi.
Others include Mr Oyebola Oyeyomi, Adelere Oriolowo, Samuel Ibiyemi, Kunle Adegoke, Ayoade Lawal, Isiaka Ayoade Owoade, Benedict Alabi, Gafar Amere, Taofeek Ayinde, Rauf Olabamiji, Babatunde Taiwo, Biodun Fajobi among others.
Addressing the aspirants, the state chairman of the APC in Osun, Mr Gboyega Famoodun tasked them to protect the corporate interest of the party, saying the winner of the primary should carry along other contestants so that the party can record electoral victory in the governorship election.
