The All Progressive Congress (APC), has today held a fresh primary for Jigawa Southwest Senatorial District to replace the senatorial candidate who died after a brief illness.
The primary election saw Muhammad Sabo Nakudu, a serving senator as the winner.
Senator Nakudu scored all the 375 votes cast by the delegates from seven local government areas of the senatorial district in the state.
Announcing the result the chairman of electoral commitment from the part’s (APC) national secretariat, engineer, Shehu Umar Dange said the exercise was peaceful and orderly.
Engineer Shehu Umar Dange commended the delegates, the local organizing committee and the party official for their support and contribution.
The fresh primary election followed the death of the candidate of the party’s (APC senatorial candidate, late Tijjani Ibrahim Gaya in China after a brief illness.
Senator Muhammad Sabo Nakudu aspired for a gubernatorial position and lost to the serving deputy governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi Danmodi a situation allegedly made to attempt to dump the party for New Nigerian People Party (NNPP) to contest for governorship position but bulked by the one Aminu Ibrahim Ringim.
Sabo Nakudu is serving his second term now going for a third term under the umbrella of the All Progressive Congress.
The senatorial candidate was once accused of cornering a contract for the supplies of water rigs to his constituency.
It said the senator awarded the contracts for the construction of hand-pump boreholes and supplies of water pumps, motorcycles and two Toyota Hilux trucks in Jigawa South-West Senatorial District to Schramm Global Services Ltd, a company owned and operated by two of his siblings.
The two trucks, the ICPC report adds, “procured as constituency projects since 2016” would later be discovered and recovered from the contractor “who is also a younger brother of the sponsor.”
