APC to embark on membership revalidation, registration ―Ebonyi chairman

Published by

MR Eze Nwachukwu, the Acting Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi, says the party will soon embark on a membership registration and revalidation.

He spoke on Friday in Abakaliki, during a expanded state stakeholders meeting, held at the party secretariat.

Nwachukwu said that the membership revalidation was among key decisions taken at the national stakeholders meeting, attended by Progressive Governors, 36 state chairmen and other party bigwigs.

According to him, the decision, which will be ratified by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), was part of effort to reposition the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.

He said that the exercise was compulsory for every old member of the party, noting that anyone who fails to participate in the exercise would lose his or her membership.

He said that after the revalidation, party members would begin payment of monthly dues.

The chairman said that proceeds from the monthly dues would be shared among the local, state and national party secretariats, for the effective running of party business.

“APC will soon embark on a nationwide revalidation registration exercise as part of ways to reposition the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“It is expected that the over 260, 000 registered members of the party should key into the exercise to avoid losing their membership, “Nwachukwu said.

He told the gathering that APC would soon conduct nationwide ward and local government congresses.

This, according to him, is to fill existing vacant positions.

He said that only officers who were elected during the party’s 2014 congresses, whose seats were declared vacant, would be filled during the proposed congresses.

Nwachukwu also dispelled rumour that the certificate of recognition issued to him by the National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun was withdrawn in obedience to court orders.

He said that the suspended Chairman, Chief Ben Nwaobasi, was still on an indefinite suspension and that he remained the Acting Chairman of APC in Ebonyi.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the party used the forum to commend President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for the successes achieved in the ongoing anti-graft war.

The party also lauded the empowerment programmes of the administration, including the N-Power scheme aimed at reducing poverty by empowering unemployed Nigerian youths.
