APC chieftain hails governors over support for tax reforms

The frontline aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Anambra State Governorship Election, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has hailed the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) for supporting tax reforms.

He described the NGF’s decision as a step in the right direction and one driven by patriotism.

The commendation was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Awka on Monday by his media aide, Mr. Ebuka Onyekwelu.

According to Onyekwelu, Sir Paul Chukwuma gave the commendation during a courtesy call on the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Alhaji Kashim Shettima, at his residence in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Sunday.

He quoted the APC aspirant as saying that the decision of the Nigeria Governors Forum is both patriotic and commendable, “I commend, without any reservation, the decision by the NGF to support the presidential tax reforms. It is a step in the right direction and one born out of patriotism. These reforms are crucial in our quest to build a functional and efficient system in Nigeria.”

He also praised the Vice President, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, and the Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, for their contributions to the remarkable pace of infrastructure development in the state.
