Honourable Abdulkareem Olugbenga Shittu has launched a groundbreaking empowerment programme in Ikorodu, Lagos, providing 300 people, including market traders, artisans, widows, and others, with zero-interest loans of N50,000 each, kindling their hope and opportunities for a brighter future.
Shittu, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has through the programme extended support to market traders to enable them to expand their businesses and equip artisans, students, and widows.
Shittu, in his remarks, expressed commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of the people, saying that the empowerment program was a testament to his dedication to Ikorodu’s growth and development.
“I am committed to making a positive impact in the lives of our people. This empowerment programme is a testament to my dedication to Ikorodu’s growth and development,” he said.
The lawmaker said the initiative was a demonstration of his compassion for the people in illuminating the path for others to follow, urging other leaders to join him in making a difference in Ikorodu and beyond.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Adeola Olugbodi, Taiwo Olukoya, and Oyedele, among others, expressed their appreciation to Hon. Shittu for his support of the less privileged in society.
Olugbodi, a trader, said the loan would help her expand her “business and provide for my family,” while Olukoya, a student, said that the empowerment would enable him to now pursue his education without financial burdens.
“I can now pursue my education without financial burdens,” Olukoya said.
Also speaking, another beneficiary, Oyedele, said the support had lifted a weight off his shoulders, “allowing me to focus on my craft, while a widow, Monsurat Akanji, said she would be able to cater for her family with the support.
